Numerical simulation of heat transfer in the cooling channel of a titanium apparatus

Abstract Numerical modeling of thermophysical processes in the air cooling channel titanium sponge reduction reactor is performed. The an area bounded by a retort filled with liquid magnesium and wall on which heating elements are mounted. Air flows inside channel, retort. A mathematical model constructed based unsteady Navier-Stokes equations axisymmetric formulation using k −ω SST turbulence model. takes into account radiation heat transfer between walls. Two variants thermal boundary conditions considered. temperature have been calculated, profiles coefficient along for wide interval airflow rates obtained. It shown that distributions not uniform strongly depend both external intensity. Heat from its outer different plotted, empirical formula calculating profile this proposed.
